The Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence encourages, facilitates, and supports the Grand Valley community in its scholarly pursuits. The Center coordinates the efforts of the following units within the University: The Office of Sponsored Programs, the Research Protections Program, and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship. The Research & Development Committee was renamed the Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence.
Research Grants-in-Aid pay costs of scholarly, creative and research activities. In 1982 Grand Valley instituted awards to recognize distinguished contributions in a discipline. This award is given to a member of the faculty whose performance in scholarly or creative activities, or whose contributions through service to professional organizations, is clearly outstanding.
