Collection contains two photography projects by Stan Krohmer. The first project, Ravines Revisited, consists of 11x14 and 4x6 b/w prints, negatives, and contact sheets taken from 2003-2007 for Ravines Revisited exhibit w/ DeMas Henke and Tony Thompson.
The Jim Harrison project, 2007-2009, contains 11x14 color and b/w prints, negatives and CDs of digital images. Krohmer and Harrison collaborated on a project to document the places in Michigan that were significant to Jim and may have been mentioned in his later books. These locations include his writing studios in Grand Marais and Leland; places he walked his dogs in Grand Marais including AuSable dunes, Estuary Beach, and Adams Trail in Kingston Plains; former homes and homes of relatives in Leland, Reed City; and places like Dunes Saloon, Hilltop Cabins. The Latch String cabin in Grand Marais was photographed as a place that Jim's character Brown Dog might have lived. Other photographs include those shot at Grand Valley of Jill Eggers, Patricia Clark, and Joyce Bahle with Harrison.
Stanley Krohmer is a painter and photographer and Affiliate Faculty in the GVSU Liberal Studies Department. He holds an M.D.S. (MFA) from Johns Hopkins University. He maintains an artist's studio in Grand Rapids where he continues to work and explore abstraction through oil painting.
