 Organization

Administrative History

In Winter 2016, the Office of Graduate Studies officially transistioned to The Graduate School. The change reflected the increasing regard for graduate education at GVSU and further established TGS as a leader for graduate education at GVSU. GVSU began offering raduate programs in 1973 and for the next 27 years there was limited organizational structure and coordination for graduate education. When the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) was created in 2000, GVSU offered more than 21 graduate degree programs, all at the mmaster's level, and there were 2090 degree seeking students enrolled. Between 2000 and 2015, graduate education grew significantly, including the addition of several doctoral degrees and increase in the number of graduate programs leading to degrees and certificates. By 2016, GVSU offered 26 graduate degree programs, including 2 professional doctorates, to over 3300 students.
