Administrative History

Established in 1987, the scholarship is awarded to students who have intentionally combined their classroom learning with practical experiences to focus on justice and peace issues in their home communities or abroad. Paul Hoffman is the founder and first contributor to the GVSU Peace and Justice Activist Scholarship, formerly known as the GVSU Peace and Justice Award. The scholarship is awarded by a faculty committee whose decisions and rationale are guided by the qualifications of the student applicants and the intent of the award.
