Scope and Contents

49 leaves. Black cardboard; back cover missing; string binding extremely fragile; some leaves are loose. Contains approx. 285 black-and-white photographs, most of them glued or taped onto the album leaves, many are loose. Some with captions written in white pencil or directly printed onto photograph. Also contains approx. 99 postcards (two of which are significantly torn), 11 drawings (Clara is presumed to be the creator of these), and 9 clippings; inclusive dates are presumed to be roughly the same as the War. In addition to YMCA service in World War I, and the war in general, subjects include tourist sites and Chateaus in France. There are a few photos of African-American troops. Locations include Columbia University; London, England; the following places in France: Vitrey, Fayl-Billot, Nimes, Ancy-le-Franc, Ecommoy, Lille, Rheims, Rouen, Soisson, Versailles, Argonne, Normandy, Brittany, Bernay, Lens, Amiens, Verdun; Belgium; and Luxembourg.
