Grand Valley State University is an institution of higher education established by the Michigan Constitution of 1963 and governed by the Board of Trustees (previously Board of Control). The Board consists of eight members appointed by the Michigan governor and confirmed by the Senate. The legal authority for GVSU is vested in the Board of Trustees. Such decisions as those regarding fiscal matters, academic programs, and the employment of University faculty and staff are ultimately made by the Board, acting upon the advice of the President. Original minutes and board books of supplemental materials from 1960 to 2011. More current Board Books and minutes are maintained in the Office of the President. Minutes are bound from 1960 to 2002.
