Abstract

The Association of Governing Boards and Presidents of State Universities and Colleges of Michigan was formed on Nov. 20, 1957 to consider problems of higher education common to the membership. The group presented an annual award to distinguished faculty and outstanding students “in recognition of a treasured Michigan resource and the promise it represents for out states’ future.” The Association was disbanded in 2001. Award files, 1984-2000, were maintained by the Provost and contain recommendations, programs, and correspondence. Photographs of award recipients are included for 1987, 1991-1995, 1998-2000 along with a list of recipients from 1982-2000. A file of administrative materials include a 1988 report on the Status of Women Faculty in Michigan Public Universities, a copy of the original association charter, minutes, and correspondence.
