Biographical Note
Donald James Angus was born in Wisconsin, dropped out of school at 16, and was self-educated through a variety of jobs. He gravitated toward electrical engineering, specializing in electrical measuring and recording devices. He became owner of the Esterline-Angus Company of Indianapolis. His interests included amateur radio and photography. In 1908 Angus was hired to install transformers, switches, metering and recording devices for new alternating current equipment in the electrical engineering laboratory. Later he was called back to instruct the electrical engineering faculty in the use of the alternating current system in the transition from direct current.
