Collection Description

The collection contains music scores featuring various instrumentations. Many of the compositions in this collection were commissioned by Arend D. Lubbers, president of Grand Valley, for various people and events at the university. Robert Wepman co-wrote some of the pieces contained in the collection.

Robert Shechtman was a member of the faculty in the Music Department at Grand Valley State University from 1971 until 2002. Prior to coming to Grand Valley, Shechtman was an award winning jazz trombonist and continued to play throughout his tenure. He attended Sarah Lawrence College and Rutgers University. Shechtman died in 2002.
