Overview

Stephen Ford was Library Director at Grand Valley from 1962 to 1988. He grew the collection of books and periodicals beginning in the first library—the Pink House—and oversaw the construction and move to Zumberge Library, which opened in 1969. He was a member of the Michigan Library Association, many university committees and task forces, Higher Education General Information Survey, and more. Files include reports from the Michigan Library Association (MLA), Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS), OCLC, various university committees, and federal funding. The files also include information related to the university library’s operations such as budgets, memorandums, facilities, employment, surveys, faculty, strategic planning, and individual subjects. Additionally, there are folders that contain Stephen Ford’s personal papers that include correspondence.
