Abstract Richard E. Flanders was a professor of Anthropology at Grand Valley from 1964-1988. After participating in the Korean conflict, he attended Mexico City College, followed by the University of Michigan where he earned his PhD. Flanders developed the sociology and anthropology departments at Grand Valley. Flanders initiated the archeological excavation of the Blendon Landing area on the Allendale Campus. Collection Description The collection contains music scores featuring various instrumentations. Many of the compositions in this collection were commissioned by Arend D. Lubbers, president of Grand Valley, for various people and events at the university. Robert Wepman co-wrote some of the pieces contained in the collection.
Collection Description Mary Schneider started collecting memorabilia of her personal and school experiences while at Union High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan and continued through her enrollment in the Pioneer class at Grand Valley.
