Abstract
Richard E. Flanders was a professor of Anthropology at Grand Valley from 1964-1988. After participating in the Korean conflict, he attended Mexico City College, followed by the University of Michigan where he earned his PhD. Flanders developed the sociology and anthropology departments at Grand Valley. Flanders initiated the archeological excavation of the Blendon Landing area on the Allendale Campus.
