Collection Description Civil War era cartes-de-visite family album of unknown origin. Identified images only of Stonewall Jackson, and Gen. G. T. Beauregard and commercial prints of Com. Hollis and carte-de-visite of plant. Leather-bound carte-de-visite album with brass clasp. Oval or rectangular cut-out pages include hand painted Stars and Bars Confederate flag in first page; 9 full-portrait carte-de-visites of 3 men, 4 women, and 2 pairs; 16 head shots of 10 men and 6 women. Scope and Contents One photograph (carte-de-visite) album, 124 x 94 cm. 10 window leaves. Dark brown pebbled morocco, blind-stamped on front and back covers, with “Album” and two ornaments stamped in gold on spine. Green on white diapered geometric design on endpapers. Remnants of brass clasps on covers. Contains 14 carte-de-visite photographic portraits (mostly female) and one tintype. Six of the photographs are identified.
