Abstract The College of Education offers a program of teacher instruction and training. The program emphasizes learning theory and inquiry combined with practical application. In 1964 Educational Studies Institute was founded. In 1980 School of Education joined the College of Arts and Sciences. In 2004 the unit became the College of Education (COE). Scope and Contents Series contains Grand Valley State University Writing Department's text book, colloquially known as the "Green Book," for its first-year writing program. WRT 150: A Guide to First Year Writing at Grand Valley State University includes an introduction to the program, syllabus guidelines, process and portfolio development information, and portfolio examples.
